Spa Start Up Procedures and Ongoing Care

Spa Start Up Procedures and Ongoing Care

On delivery of your new Spa simply fill it up with normal tap water to the recommended level. Fill your Spa by putting a hose into the filter pipe (this prevents air blocks) and then heat to your desired temperature with 25 to 35 degrees being recommended.

Easy Start-Up Procedure

PLEASE READ BEFORE STARTING INSTALL

Water in your Spa can only be treated for 3 to 4 months, after which the water needs to be dumped and re-filled with new tap water and repeat the initial start-up procedure.

Always add chemicals to water and never the other way around. The best way to add chemicals to your Spa is to use a clean bucket and fill it half way with your Spa water. Then add your chemicals to the water in bucket and dissolved using a stirrer. Once dissolved press cleaning cycle and pour the dissolved chemical solution slowly over the water coming out of the jet.

Cleaning Cycle means water is coming out of the jets and water is passing through the filter

Jets On means pump is on and squirting out water from various points of the spa

Circulate Water means water is coming out of the jets and water is passing through the filter

Safe Chlorine Range for swimming is between 1-3 ppm as seen on test strips

STEP 1: TEST YOUR WATER

OK RANGE for pH is between 7.2 and 7.8

OK RANGE for Total Alkalinity is between 80 and 160

Use your test strips to test the pH and Total Alkalinity of your Spa water reading the test strip instantly as it comes out of the water. If the test strip is below the OK RANGE for pH and Total Alkalinity then add the appropriate quantity of a pH and Alkalinity increaser.

45 grams per 1000 litres of water of this product will increase Total Alkalinity by 25ppm and will increase pH as well. Mix chemical, put into Spa and press the cleaning cycle. Circulate for 20 minutes before proceeding to step 2.

Similarly if the pH and Total Alkalinity is above the OK RANGE add a pH reducer to reach the OK RANGE.

STEP 2: SANITISE YOUR SPA

When using Spa Clear Lithium Sanitiser add 50 grams per 1000 litres and press the cleaning cycle to circulate for 20 minutes. Every day after that add 12 grams per 1000 litres as a daily dose, even if you’re not using the Spa. On the days you do use the Spa add the daily Lithium dose 20 minutes before you get into your Spa. The free chlorine reading should be between 1-3 on your test strip, you are then safe to enjoy your Spa.

NOTE THIS IS A GUIDE ONLY AND YOU MAY HAVE TO USE A LITTLE MORE OR LESS FROM TIME TO TIME

The daily dose suggested above is a guide only and is based on 2 people using the Spa 2-3 times per week – more Spa usage will require more chemicals.

YOUR SPA IS NOW READY TO USE

Easy Weekly Spa Maintenance Program

One week after your initial Start Up procedure you will need to start your Weekly Spa Maintenance Program – ensuring you choose a day in the week to regularly do this (Saturday or Sunday morning)

Before you go onto Step 1 hose out your filter, and every other week use a Filter Cleaner in hot water to soak the filter cartridge before hosing.

STEP 1 – SHOCK YOUR SPA for water clarity

Add 30 grams of Spa Shock per 1000 litres of water into your Spa and press clean cycle on for 40 minutes with the Spa Cover off. Spa Shock will help remove Chloramines and bather wates from previous week.

STEP 2 – TEST THE WATER

Using Test Strips test the pH and Total Alkalinity of your Spa Water and adjust to the OK RANGE

STEP 3 – SANITISE THE WATER

Continue using your daily dose of Lithium (2 Teaspoons per 1000 litres of Water DAILY)

REPEAT the 3 steps above weekly until your water is 4 months old and then dump the water as per instructions below.
